Dr. Helen Magnus

Magnus's Council bid for May 2013. Just as a reminder, some stuff she's done:

- built the vet's office
- took on apprentices for said office
- teaches at the school
- would like to put together a research team to further explore both the island + opportunities of getting off the island and back home (she'll detail this in her speech)
- other canon experiences of note (was a French spy in WWII, ran an international sanctuary network, Oxford trained surgeon, blah blah blah)

Council Bid - May 2011

Magnus is currently involved with both the clinic and the vet's office, which she founded back in February. After the disappearance of Gaius Baltar, she is teaching a class at the school. She is also heavily involved with the young people on the island, giving her the idea for her council platform: Apprenticeships.

Currently, the Psych office and her own Vet's office will train people on the job. Magnus would like to expand that into an employment office, of sorts, so that new residents can take on useful skills and eventually apprentice with their profession of choice (e.g. Hunting crew, Blacksmithing, Laboratory work.) She feels this is important because of the constant inflow and outflow of population on the island and to provide a sense of agency to those residents who can no longer do what they did before coming to the island.

She feels strongly about this and will likely present a proposal to council even if she's not elected.

Before coming to the island, she was a surgeon and geneticist with a speciality in metahumans and rare creatures.
