[Wedding] - timed to 26 November

Even Helen Magnus, for all she'd seen and done, had wedding fantasies as a little girl. They'd been simpler then, pretty blue dresses and spring bouquets and she'd even had a face to put on them once: John Druitt. But that wedding had never come to pass and had gone so horribly awry that after a certain point, she didn't dream of weddings anymore.

And now it had come the time to actually have a wedding and the man by her side was someone who'd only been with her but a mere fraction of her long life and yet, knew her in ways she'd never anticipated. Helen had wanted to keep it simple and sweet, so she'd dressed casually and expected that the others would follow her lead (and, in the case of Will and likely Kate, be grateful for it).

It was just a matter of exchanging quick vows, modern ones, and signing a register while Sookie officiated - simple, yes, but perfect.

Once things were done, Helen wasn't terribly quick to run off. It might not be a big wedding but it was still a wedding and she wanted to have a moment to speak to the few she'd chosen to witness it along with Will.

He leaned and whispered a teasing "Maggie" before straightening again and ducking just out of swatting range. "I get to call you my wife," he said happily. "That's all I need."

"We are not calling me Maggie Zimmerman," Helen hissed, but it had no sting. "And yes, wife is a much better nickname, I think. I'm exceedingly fond of it."

He grinned wider and pretended he was about to say Maggie Zimmerman! out loud for everyone to hear, but stopped himself at the last second. It was their little in-joke. "Then I want a kiss from my wife," he murmured instead. He didn't want to be obnoxious about it in the middle of their little company of good friends--they'd have time alone together later--but they were newlyweds and therefore entitled.

"Your wife is happy to oblige," Helen said, leaning in and kissing him softly. "And your wife also wants to be Mrs. Zimmerman officially. I know it sounds...silly. I know it does. But I'm very traditional deep down and I just really feel like I ought to be taking your name instead of keeping mine. I like having the outward sign of our marriage, especially in absence of rings."

"Then you should do whatever makes you happy," Will said. "Because that's what I want, is for you to be happy. So if you want to be Helen Zimmerman--" He couldn't help but give her another stupid, sappy grin at that, "--then you go right ahead. It's totally up to you."

"Helen Zimmerman it is," Helen said, wrapping an arm around his waist and just relaxing for a moment. It was nice to be so outwardly affectionate with Will and while it wasn't their usual, no, Helen was all right with it on their wedding day.

"How many days off do you want to take? Two, maybe?"
