State of the Pups: April 2012

State of Me:

Better, considering the circumstances. My father is incredibly ill and has been for a long time but he took a turn for the worse this weekend and I fear we don't have much longer. I'm...as prepared as you can be for that but it's still affecting my mood. Mostly, I'm just very listless so if I go a day or two between tags, please know it's not you. It's one of two things: either I'm physically away due to work or being down at the hospital or I'm in my weird denial/apathy/do not want to deal mode where I just poke around and do nothing for hours. I'm trying not to let that hold anyone up, though, as best I can.

Work is the other bugger affecting activity, though not so much in April as it will be in May. I've got to go to Chicago May 10-12 because I got subpoened for a deposition. I am...not pleased about this, considering we normally do them via video, but this particular plaintiff's attorney is adamant my ass show up in Cook County to give my depo. Hoo boy. We also got slammed with two massive hailstorms over the weekend and I have about 2600 claims on new policies to comb through on top of my current analysis projects AND my ongoing field investigations. I am displeased :-|

I have a metric ton of private threads, though, and am always happy to do more so I think my reqs are mostly sewn up even with those snags in EPing/tagging in.



Jacob Black (quileutejacob): LEAH CLEARWATER. I love her to pieces even if Jacob is like "this is so terrible and yet okay and I don't know what my feelings are doing :-|." I'm super excited that the island is back to normal because they can go CLIFF DIVING and KAYAKING and SUPER ADVENTURE FUNTIEMS.

He's also gotten more serious with Belle and has even been talking to Polly some about marriage and how it works so, maybe, maybe he's getting hints in that direction. Jacob is very adamant about going slow, though, so it will be a while yet.

I want threads with all his canonmates, for sure, and otherwise I'll be tagging him around since he just got an EP last month.



Dr. Helen Magnus Zimmerman (notsocommon):

Magnus is Magnus. She did tell Will she was pregnant and other than being a little shocked, he seemed to take it in stride so overall she's a happier camper going into May. She'll be (handwavily) telling Kate she's pregnant the first week of May but other than that, I do think she's going to sit on it a bit until she's sure she won't miscarry. So, expect everyone to KNOW maybe by the time of Council elections later in the month or possibly June.

The only thread I really need for her is that I want her to talk to Will about Council and whether or not she should decline any nominations she might get to be reelected. Magnus isn't the type of woman to do that, normally, and had Ashley as a single parent while running a global Sanctuary network, but she is really, really trying to listen to her body, slow down, and be good to herself for once. Any declining of nomination wouldn't be because she felt like she couldn't hack it but more because she wants to be a good mother to the new baby and wants to bond in a way she didn't really get to with Ashley, so. It all hinges on what Will thinks because, as always, he was the protege and the sounding board before he was the husband.

Otherwise, I want threads with all her canonmates and friends, especially Danny, Trixa and Luce, and I wouldn't mind threading with Thor again. That was actually a really fun thread and a pup I don't normally tag. I definitely want to continue fostering her relationship with Pepper, too, because my god, those women could take over the whole island while wearing some damn sexy shoes.



Jon Snow (tooktheblack):

JON. Jon is quite possibly my most obnoxiously loud pup right now, which is freaking weird. I had waffled on dropping him for so long and now I'm really glad I didn't because I play him everywhere noooow. Love him. Next month (possibly even May 1st, because I just can't wait any longer), he'll be getting a Hub post where he's bartending and I really, really encourage everyone to tag it to fuck with him. He's got a private thread going/finished with Charlie where he's learning cocktails and he's still going to screw up some so, YAY.

Anita suggested he make some of his own cocktails with Westerosi names and I'm going to dig out my cocktails book and see what I can come up with. If you've got any ideas, though, please leave them in the comments for my future consideration/borrowing. I can only imagine what Arya will come up with.

He and Robb will be throwing a tournament (which...I need to post to slated about) and I kind of want that maybe in June? I'll need a little bit to plan it and May's kind of a busy month for me, so, we'll see. I definitely want it to be kid-friendly, though, considering Robb and Del both have little ones, and fun-for-all. No banning people because they're not noble at THIS tourney, oh no.

Aside from his EP, I'm definitely open to private threads with him too. He's hella loud, likely only to get louder if we do get a Bran, so throw 'em at me.



Kahlan Amnell (mother_confessor):

Kahlan I'm actually really pleased with this month. I managed to get her out and make some friends and, good for me, I even tagged some people I don't normally thread with. My favorite, hands down, was her thread with Rogue at the beginning of the month and I fail at giving kudos in the actual kudos meme but if you see this, Mala, I really enjoyed that thread. It was the perfect way to spark off my internal plot for Kahlan and it was just heartwrenching to see those two talk about not being able to touch and love freely before coming to TR. ;__;

Now that the cat's out of the bag, Kahlan is more than likely going to get in another compromising situation with Richard. The sex thing is a huge hangup for her and I don't want to rush it; while she loves him, I think Kahlan would be understandably skittish about pushing it considering the nature of her Confessor powers back home.

Otherwise, I'm really loving her threads with Jane Bennet and Emily Merchant and even though it's awkward as fuck, Reggie Mantle. I love throwing her into fish-out-of-water situations because she is so so calm and regal most of the time. And, of course, I want to thread her with Dodger until the cows come home. He's always brilliant and Kahlan always shines around children.

The Future



Sam Merlotte (merlotte):

So let me tell you about this loud fucker right here. I was going to app him, then decided not to when I made so many drops, then decided that I just did not even care. I have been rewatching True Blood and he gets louder and louder. I wrote part of the app but I may end up scrapping it because I think (and I haven't seen it to know for sure) that S4 is really fucked up all over the damn place and I like my Sam sweet. I will have to watch all of canon to be absolutely sure.

To that end, I'm hoping (praying, wishing, what have you) to push this app off to June. I have reqs to app him tomorrow, honestly, but A) I want the additional canon B) I only want to have to list four pups' worth of reqs in an app and C) I want to be sure that Kahlan is good and settled.

We'll see if I can be patient. The past tells me that I usually can't.
